Edward J. Domanick 85 went home to be with the Lord on Thursday February 24 2011. Edward was born in McKeesport PA on july 19 1925 to the late Michael and Elizabeth Domanick. After high school he served in the 6th Engineers Brigade in WWII. He was in the first wave at the Invasion of Normandy the Battle of the Bulge and was also one of the guards assignied to General Eisenhower at the signing of the Peace Treaty. After returning home he finished with a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Miami FL. He worked in that field until just this past October retiring from Momar out of Atlanta. He married Joan (Landstrom) on November 27 1954 in Cleveland. He was a member of The Chapel. He loved his church family especially his Primetime classmates. He was a devoted sports fan; a Cleveland Browns Backer from the Akron Chapter from the beginning. A baseball manager and coach for many youth from WABL in the late 1960's until just recently after many years with Revere youth. He was also a Copley American Legion/VFW member. He was a friend to all fondly being referred to as 'the Jet'. Edward is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Joan; son Gary (Becky); son Jeff; grandchildren Sarah Jared Debbie and Daniel. He was preceded in death by his darling daughter Jeannie; and brothers John and Charlie. A Funeral Service will take place at 3:00 PM on Wednesday March 2 2011 at The Chapel (in the Memorial Chapel) 135 Fir Hill Akron with Lynn Warner officiating. A family interment will take place in the Veteran's Memorial Section of Copley Township Cemetery where Copley VFW Post 7971 and American Legion Post 473 will be leading military honors prior to the funeral. Family will receive friends Hummel Funeral Home COPLEY 3475 Copley Rd on Tuesday evening from 4-8 PM.
