Amy Lynn (Bresnahan) Thomason

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Amy Lynn (Bresnahan) Thomason, age 46. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior on November 5, 2020 after a long and fierce battle with cancer, which she handled with determination, grace and strength.

Amy grew up in Brewster and attended Fairless High School. From there, her path led her to Grove City College where she graduated with a degree in Business. Not finished, Amy obtained her MBA from the University of Akron with a specialization in Human Resources.

Her professional career began at Swagelok Companies and she also lent her talents to Westfield Companies, First Energy, Lockheed Martin and then finally to Kent State University.

Amy’s strongest attribute was her compassion for serving others in any manner needed. This ranged from career counseling to resume writing, meals, an ear to listen, or a shoulder to cry on. She always put others ahead of herself and this was felt by those she served: Akron Pregnancy Solutions, The Dragon Boat Dream Team and Chapel Hill Christian Academy.

She is survived by her husband, Wade, and their son Aiden, to whom she dedicated her love and energy. Also left to cherish her memory are her mother and stepfather Sharon and Tim Stith; sister Chanin (Carl) Tyler, nieces Megan and Allison Tyler; in-laws Fred and Darlene Thomason and Dan (Mary Beth) Thomason, as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Her greatest gift was devoting herself to serve Christ. She lived life as a faithful servant, always looking for ways to help others with compassion, dignity, and grace.

The family would like to thank Dr. Rehmus and her staff for their incredible care through the years, as well as the staff on the 4th and 5th floors at Akron General. The staff at Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center is also greatly appreciated for their kindness and compassion.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day, and not only to me but to all who have loved his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8

Calling hours will be Monday, November 9th from 4-7pm at Grace Church, 754 Ghent Road, Fairlawn. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 10th at the church at 11:00 am with additional calling hour one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at East Union Lawn Cemetery in Navarre, Ohio.

  1. Sharon and Tim, I’m so very sorry for your loss. Amy lost her battle with cancer on the same day as my brother, so I feel your pain. Prayers for peace and comfort during this difficult time and in the days ahead.

  2. So sorry for your loss. Our thoughts & prayers are going out to her family. May she rest in the arms of her heavenly father.

  3. I am so sorry for your loss. No words that I can say will help your pain, but I pray that your family will know that you are surrounded by loving friends and family to help lift you up. I am sending hugs to you, Wade.

  4. So sorry to hear the loss of Amy. What a courageous, strong, selfless, and kindhearted woman of God. She will be missed by so many.

  5. What a blessing it has been to know the Thomason Family through the elementary school of their son Aiden. Amy has given of herself so willingly and sacrificially to classroom events, school-wide projects and behind-the-scenes support work. She will be tremendously missed, as all that she accomplished she performed “as unto the Lord”! Amy knew just what needed to be done with any project and did everything with such a flair for detail and excellence. As has been said by others, we are standing with you in prayer and in affection in these days Wade and Aiden. We are asking God to provide the overwhelming strength of His presence and His comfort in this time of loss. 2 Corinthians 1:3-5, John Wilson

  8. Sharon & family:. My sincere condolences to you & your family on the loss of your daughter. May happy memories console you all during these difficult days.

  9. There are many memories and acts of kindness I could mention, but most recent was this: After my mother, Amy’s aunt, was unexpectedly institutionalized following a cardiac arrest, Amy faithfully sent the most encouraging notes to my mother and father every single week (for the last three years no less!). I can’t tell you the amount of joy and peace that brought them.

  10. Wade, I am so sorry for your loss. I pray for you and your family, and may the Lord shine his light upon you to comfort you all during this most difficult time.

  11. Wade, I am so sorry for your loss of Amy. My heart is breaking for you and Aiden. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. May God give you the peace you seek during this difficult time.

  12. It was a honor working with Amy a number of years at Pregnancy Solution . Her wisdom was beyond her years. She was such an important part of our board when she served. She helped so much in putting together our fundraisers. I will always be grateful in serving along side of her . Ken Wells

  13. My sincerest condolences for your loss. I worked with Amy at Kent State and she was such a special person who shared so much kindness and wisdom with the students and had such a positive impact on all of those around her.
